Sculptures and 3D Works

Howard has always been interested in sculpture, particularly utilising combinations of natural timber and found or manufactured elements. As a teenager, his parents' garden was home to a variety of works including Reclining Mechanical Figure, the spine of which was the valve cam rod of a six cylinder motor, while he shared his bedroom with Mantis, a 2 metre figure constructed from recovered timber and plumbing fittings retrieved from the local tip. The works displayed below all come from a period between 2002 and 2006, featuring shapes worked from selected jarrah logs with stainless steel elements.
